Licensing Consultation
Between 24 October and 212 November 2022, the Scottish Affairs Committee of the UK Parliament at Westminster heard evidence from shooting organisations, Police Scotland, Scottish Ministers, UK Ministers and policy officials in respect of firearms licensing matters. The following links provide both video and transcripts of the Committee hearings. We await the publication of the Committees findings and will respond when we can.
Notwithstanding this, the meetings provide an accurate reflection of the current state of firearms licensing in Scotland, and to some extent, the UK. It also allows an insight into the thinking of UK Ministers and officials in respect of the statutory guidance and fees, which are under current consideration.
These sessions reflect the actuality of firearms licensing and give an insight of the complexity of negotiations when you hear and see the views of those involved in the licensing process, but out with those who actually use firearms for their sport and hobby.
We hope you take time to watch the sessions (links below) and should you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact the office.
