The Hunting with Dogs (Scotland) Bill
You may be aware that the Scottish Parliament is examining the proposed legislation presented by the Scottish Government in respect of hunting with dogs in Scotland. This legislation, if passed in its current form would present difficulties in the working of dogs to control pest species and in the field trialling world.
Put simply, if this law goes through, it could become illegal to work more than two dogs at once - even on rough-shooting days.
There is a second chance to submit views in respect of the legislation and it is important that, if you think this affects you, that you take time to read this and act. It is an opportunity to have a voice and for it to be heard. If you do nothing, then please accept the consequences.
SACS has reached out to specialists in this field to ensure that they add their views to the consultation. We are also liaising with other countryside organisations to ensure that the collective voice is heard. That does not absolve individuals from the drive to ensure our voice is heard. In short, if you think this is going to affect you, then sit down, read the views already submitted and add your voice.
