Grouse shooting licence
The licence application system is now open here>>>
It is the land that is licensed, and you must provide a map and centre grid reference. You must read the new Code of Practice for Grouse Moor Management and agree to comply with this before a licence will be granted. Even if you only intend to shoot one grouse, a licence is still required. We understand that the licence will be issued immediately on application. Our RELM partner Scottish Land and Estates has issued guidance on how to apply, which we recommend this is read before beginning your application.
PLEASE NOTE: due to uncertainties about the correct boundary of land to which licences relate, the current advice is to hold off applying for a licence until this uncertainty is resolved – UNLESS you are going to be shooting grouse on the 12 August or shortly thereafter. In that case, you must apply for a licence now to shoot grouse from the 12th. To be clear, you cannot shoot grouse unless the land over which you shoot them is covered by a licence.
